Saturday was a beautiful day to be out on the
water. The sun was bright and warm and a nice cool breeze made the day perfect. Many boats ventured out to enjoy a sail/motor down the lake to view the Governors Cup races off of Henderson point. After a few hours on the water the word came out that there were cupcakes to be eaten on RockReation. Needless to say many boats were ready to raft up and enjoy the goodies. A big thanks to Helen for providing all the cupcakes to celebrate Fathers Day weekend and to M&M for being the anchor boat for the raft up. Other boats joined the fun by anchoring near by and swam over to enjoy the cupcakes. From all the smiles and talk they were good and I think most of the people had several. After a few hours of swimming and enjoying good laughs several boats headed up to Jaws beach area to find a beach for a camp fire.
The Coast Guard had a boat out all day doing inspections
and training. Well Parrotise got pulled again and boarded by two young lady cadets carrying Big Guns. We know they are just doing their jobs and trying to keep the rest of us safe on the water. We do appreciate all they do. They told me that they will contact the local CG Auxiliary and will help set up a day for the auxiliary to come to the marina and give the free inspections to any club member that is interested. This is a good time to make sure that you boat has all the necessary equipment to stay safe while out on the water. Once we have a date for this we will let you all know.
The sunset on Saturday night had to be one of the best
that we have seen on the lake in a long time. The colors were just awesome and I hope when the pics are posted that they will tell the full story. There was not a lot of beach area with the water level being high but a few boats were able to find enough and had a great fire. At one time Ted said that flame has to be at least 8 foot tall and we all had to agree. By the talk on the radio there must have been a good party on the dock as well Saturday night. It is always great to have so many people come up and enjoy the great weather and friendships.
Don't forget next weekend, June 22nd, Doug Miller is
going to set up a Starting Seminar for all you sailboat racers. Meet on C dock around 10am and he will have hand outs and will go over some of the basics
on the dock. Then it will be out to a start line for several practice starts. Doug plans to video tape the starts and you can critique them later.
Until next time
