News from Dock, and Fox and Hound Chase

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the late recap.  I got swamped this week.  For a Realtor, that is good news.  The latest news on C-Dock is that they are hoping to have electricity and water returned to the entire dock by this weekend.  The space where Tenacious and Godspeed are will still be needing repairs.

On Friday, all the boats were in different spaces.  It looked strange.  As sailors came up, if they were at the end of C-dock and wanted power, they needed to move into a different slip.  On Saturday, the fleet was gathering at 10:30 for the Captain’s meeting.  Brenda Gail volunteered to be the Fox.  The plan was to meet at the Goal Post and give the Fox a 5 minute head start.  All the boats were given 3 water balloons and the Fox was given a handful.  The Hounds were, Honeycraft, Tenacious, Knight Flight, Godspeed, Tail Wind, Cynosure, Pronto, Wrenegade and M&M.  The Fox was a sly one.  The winds were light and she headed in between Hibernia and UNC.  Several Hounds were on her tail.  I heard that after 30-40 minutes of the chase, the Fox was out of ammunition.  Here are several photos of the race.

At 4 PM we started our Flea Market.  We had a wonderful Magma Grill for sale, dinghies, glue, magazines, etc..  Although not as much stuff as last year, we sold 2 dinghies.   Finally we had our International cook-off.  Our fare was Mexican 7 layer dip and chips, Antipasto, Tzatziki and pita, bruchetta, (sausage, kraut, and grilled veggies), peppersteak and onion over rice, strawberry trifle, croissants, chocolate filled mini tarts, and a few other dishes that escape me now (sorry if I forgot your dish).  There was plenty to go around our group.  The judges (Doug and Keir) awarded the prize to the Peppersteak and Onion dish.  Our gathering lasted till about 8 PM, then the group scattered to different boats or left for the evening.

On Sunday, the had our Pegram’s group.  When we returned to the marina, the winds were light.  We still had several boats head out.  It was great temperatures and bright skies for the weekend.

Next weekend, several of our sailors will celebrate children graduating college.  Congratulations to those families.  If you are up this coming weekend, we also celebrate Mother’s Day.  For those of you who are up, I will bring a cake for all of us to share and celebrate on Saturday.  Our next club event is May 13th with Docktails.  The theme for this month is Martini.  Bring the fixings for Cosmopolitians, Lemon Drops, Chocolate Martini’s etc,  We will gather at 8 PM to enjoy our concoctions.  Then on Saturday, there will be a group sail. Location TBD by the wind that day.  Have a great week and celebrations.
