It’s race time, fellow sailors.

Races 3 & 4 of our Fall Series will be held this weekend. Our race committee meeting will be on dock C at 10:30 Saturday morning.  Jeff on Odyssey will serve as our race committee.

We welcome all SCYC members.  If you have any questions, please give me a call on my cell.  919-880-0093.  I will head up to the marina on Friday and I will not have cell coverage once there.

See you all Saturday.

Trim them sails,

SCYC Race Results

Hello Racers,

Before getting to our Saturday racing results,  I’d like to review the 2011 Spring Race Series results.

Our Spring racing involved 13 boats showing up to battle it out for eight races.  Ron, on Honeycraft, started the series with a win and did not look back.  Honeycraft dominated the series by winning six straight races before Doug, on Brenda Gail, took some glory.  The B fleet came down to the last race. After Big Bird and Wrenegade traded licks race after race, Big Bird pulled it out by the skin of her beak to nose out Wrenegade for the silver (first place in yacht racing terminology).   Hat’s off to Honeycraft and Big Bird.

This past Saturday we started out our Fall Racing Series.  The weather was nice with the winds calling to be light.  Team Aquila served as our race committee for the day. Thanks guys.  We have three new boats in this racing series, a J22 , Capri 22 and Catalina 355. Some of our regular boats were missing although they plan to be back for next race.  The first race began with 3-5 kn and stayed that way the whole race.   While all boats keep moving during race, the light air really caused the fleet to spread out.  Race One line honors went to Tenacious.  The wind was building a little so we started the second race without much delay; sorry Pronto.  The wind stayed between 4-7 kn with a couple of 10 kn gusts.  All boats got to the line close to each other.  Word has it the some of the boats spent time doing penalty turns. This allowed a couple of boats slip away, with Tenacious getting line honors.  At the end of the day we had a great start to our Fall Series.  Back at the dock, the normal banter between the racers make it all worth doing.  I believe someone won a hamburger, maybe two, on a racing bet.  Thanks to all that raced and helped with the racing this past Saturday.  Our next race is scheduled for September 24th.

See you at the dock,
Eddie
