Hello Sailors,
I hope everyone weathered the hurricane last weekend with no damage to home or boat.
It is time to get our boats ready for racing. Our first race of the Fall Series starts Saturday, September 3rd. The Fall Series will consist of eight races. We will score your best 6 . We will sail on September 3 & 24, skip October, pick back up November 5th & 19th. If necessary. December 3rd will be our make up date if we miss a scheduled race date due to poor racing conditions.
I will be at the marina all day Friday if anyone needs any help getting their boat ready. We will have our race committee meeting Saturday at 10:30 on dock C. Aquila will serve as the committee boat for races 1 & 2. If you have any questions feel free to call me (919-880-0093). I will have my phone with me through Thursday. I do not have good cell coverage at the lake.
We will race under the US Sailing Rules. The winners of last series, Ron Honeycutt ,Honeycraft (A Fleet) & Robin Gelbert, Big Bird (B Fleet) will be returning to see if anyone has what it takes to beat them. We have some new boats entering the racing group. A J22 is coming out to race and I will enter my Catalina 355 . If you have not raced your boat previously, this might be a great time to get involved. While we all race hard we are not a cut-throat racing group. It is my mission is to learn how to make my boat sail at fast as I can while at the same time having fun and returning to the dock at the end of the day with a smile of my face. I look forward to seeing everyone Saturday.
Get your boats ready to rumble!
