Hi sailors,
The Steele Creek Yacht Club, will try again to hold our first club race this Saturday, April 14th.
As mentioned in the March Madness racing letter, we will be trying a new racing format this year with a focus to encourage participation. Most of the events will be fun races. Each race during the year will have its own format therefore each race will stand on its own. Fun race winners will receive a trophy and bragging rights to keep until the next race when it is passed on to the next winner.
Saturday's race will be called, Who's My Crew. We will mix up skippers and crew at the race committee meeting to be held at the gazebo at 10:30. If you'd like to race your boat and be one of the skippers, be prepared to volunteer at the meeting. Everyone else will put their names in a hat and the skippers will draw for crew. I will oversee the drawing to ensure that seasoned racers are mixed with novices. (I reserve the right to make some skippers draw again to get the balance we need.) If the weather is goodt, we will have two races. The winners will have the lowest combined time after the PHRF adjustment.
We are hoping for a good turnout Saturday. If you have any question please give me a call at 919-880-0093. Our club will have a campfire at the moorings after the races so the winners will have plenty of time to tell all us losers just how good they really were.
See you Saturday,
Eddie
