Brass Bails Sail, hosted by Doug Miller: The Brass Balls Sail this year was quite unusual. Ice covered alot of the water in the marina. A Dock and B Dock were completely surrounded by ice and C dock had ice about half way up. Thankfully the weather was quite warm on Saturday though and we didn't even need our coats.
35 people and 9 Boats--Odyssey (Jeff), Loblolly (Dennis, and crew: Steve & Laura, Dave & Helen, Kim) Godspeed (Gerd, Tim) , M&M (Mark & Meryl and crew: Thanos, Nathan, Doug and Chris from the Sea Scouts), Tenacious( Diane and Eddie with Petey & Rocky, with crew Jane, Billy and from the Sea Scouts), Ian's Boat (Ian,with his son, and a friend for his crew), ASailsCall (Tom and a couple friends for his crew), Honeycraft (Ron & Paul) and Palisades (Don & Dana with crew Ted, John & Lyssa) --participated in this fun and beautiful day.
5 Other boats-Aquilla, Zephyr, RockReation, Brenda Gail and the Sea Scouts-had planned to go out but were unable to get their boats out of the ice. The other boats volunteered their boats to everyone who was not able to get out and everyone ended up having a great time. The boats made perfect reflections on the water and made for a perfect day of pix. Back at the dock everyone gathered back together for the Brass Balls Presentation by our terrific host Doug Miller. A random draw of all boats that participated resulted in M&M, Tenacious, and Loblolly winning very nice 2014 Brass Balls coffee mugs.
