The Steele Creek Yacht Club (SCYC) is an active boating social club based out of the Steele Creek Marina on the Kerr Lake Reservoir. Located in the Piedmont region of northern North Carolina and southern Virginia, it is just off of NC-39 fourteen miles north of Henderson, NC.

Club members enjoy activities at the dock or destinations on the water two or three times a month during the spring through fall, and occasional activities in the winter.  During 2026, members who wish to hone their sailing skills through competition will have the option of participating in a variety of different fun races.

The group is well-known as a community of friendly, helpful sailors and motor boaters.  Many members spend a majority of their weekends on their boats throughout the year, and it isn't uncommon to find a few on the docks or out on the water during the weekdays, too!

Our members constantly enjoy one of North Carolina's and Virginia's best kept boating secrets!  One of the largest lakes in the southeastern U.S., Kerr Lake has over 850 miles of pristine shoreline stretching from west of Clarksville, Virginia in an "L" shape to north of Henderson, North Carolina.  Kerr Lake boasts large expanses of deep and wide water, ideal for sailing and other water sports.

If you have a boat at Kerr Lake, or visit the lake regularly, we would love for you to join us!  Access the membership form in the left-hand links column.
