It is time to get back on the race course. Our 2011 Spring Race Series starts next Saturday the 26th and you must be a member of the SCYC to participate in the racing. We will collect $20 per boat for the Spring Series at the race committee meeting that starts at 10:30 on dock C. Please come early if you can. The racing will begin around 12:00 noon. I will serve as race committee. If you have any questions before Saturday feel free to call me on my cell phone 919-880-0093. (Keep in mind that I DO NOT have cell reception at the lake, so I won't get calls or messages after mid-day on Friday.)
Over the winter there have been some boat ownership changes. Hunter sailboat 29.5 ( formerly 50/50 ) is now Unplugged. Hunter 38 ( formerly Got Speed) is now going to race under a new banner. We have a new Catalina 36, Wrenegade, ready to hit the starting line. This past weekend there were many boats being prepped for race day. Honeycraft was scrubbing this bottom and working with his race headsail. I saw Pronto sneaking down the dock with a big box. Looked like a new headsail. Big Bird had a full crew out working on the boat. I could not tell what all they were up to. On Saturday, there were many racers out on the lake tuning up their boats. Rumor has it that a frog man is coming up to the lake to do some underwater work. I do not know what that is all about.
Get you crew ready for a good day of racing. I look forward to seeing everyone Saturday.
Trim them sails!
