Oktoberfeast/Dog Days 2016
The weather was perfect for our combined event this year, which included a wine and beer tasting for a donation for the shelter. Our cooks prepared corn dogs, hush puppies and Catfish to go along with our shelter theme. As usual there was a lot of wonderful food prepared by our hardworking cooks. Thank you to so many who helped in setting up, cleaning up, decorating, cooking, pouring wine and beer. We could not have done it without you! I believe everyone had a great time.

We had several new doggies in the Dog Parade this year with their owners:

Doc with Rich who danced his way down the walk
Bodie with Lisa
Larry with Doug
Buggsy with Laura
Unfortunately, the crowd was not too interested in voting for a Dog Parade winner this year but special mention has to go to Ollie in his spider costume and to Pig because she was just so darn cute and everyone loved her! Enjoy the pix of each participant in the picture gallery below.
Even though the amount of money we raised was way down compared to last years event, we did receive a couple of big donations of supplies which are much needed by the shelter. Thank you so much To Dave and Barb donating so much to the shelter in memory of their sweet Rufus.
Several people did mention they did not have cash on them so it is not too late. You can send a check for the Mitchell Mill Animal Rescue to me at 3328 Daingerfield Drive Raleigh 27616. Steve tried giving some background on the shelter but the beer and wine and had people distracted. The Veterinarian who works at the Mitchell Mill Animal Shelter owns a house at Kerr Lake and a lot of her rescues come from the Kerr Lake Area.
