Brass Bails Sail, hosted by Doug Miller: The Feb. 1st Brass Balls Sail this year was quite unusual. Ice covered a lot of the water in the marina. A Dock and B Dock were completely surrounded by ice and C dock had ice about half way up. Thankfully the weather was quite warm on Saturday though and we didn't even need our coats.
35 people and 9 Boats--Odyssey (Jeff), Loblolly (Dennis, and crew: Steve & Laura, Dave & Helen, Kim) Godspeed (Gerd, Tim) , M&M (Mark & Meryl and crew: Thanos, Nathan, Doug and Chris, from the Sea Scouts), Tenacious( Diane and Eddie with Petey & Rocky, with crew Jane, Billy and Tommy from the Sea Scouts), Ian's Boat (Ian,with his son, and a friend for his crew), ASailsCall (Tom and a couple friends for his crew), Honeycraft (Ron & Paul) and Palisades (Don & Dana with crew Ted, John & Lyssa) --participated in this fun and beautiful day.
5 Other boats-Aquilla, Zephyr, RockReation, Brenda Gail and the Sea Scouts-had planned to go out but were unable to get their boats out of the ice. The other boats volunteered their boats to everyone who was not able to get out and everyone ended up having a great time. The boats made perfect reflections on the water and made for a perfect day of pix. Back at the dock everyone gathered back together for the Brass Balls Presentation by our terrific host Doug Miller. A random draw of all boats that participated resulted in M&M, Tenacious, and Loblolly winning very nice 2014 Brass Balls coffee mugs.

Chilli/Stew Cook-off Hosted by Dave Rock, and Beach Party hosted by Jerry and Sandy Stephenson: This years Chilli cook-off also included stew and took place at the Stephenson house combined with a beach party. We had 40 people from the club attend, the most ever for a Chilli cook-off. There had to be 15 different kinds of stew and chilli, too many to sample some of each so there wasn't a contest this year--it was all delicious, as well as so many different desserts and breads. There was a lot of dancing into the wee hours of the morning. It was so wonderful to have the chance to get to know so many more tenants of SCM and everyone had such a great time and it even prompted 4 couples to begin Shag Dancing Lessons for the future. Lots of good food, lots of smiles and laughter, lots of dancing, lots of great people...perfect evening. What a way to start off 2014!!

2/22/2014, A Different View of The Marina: Your SCYC Photographer had the chance to take some pix from above thanks to Christian who provided me with an amazing time and an incredible view over the water.

March 8th:
What a beautiful day Saturday after ice at the lake all day on Friday, leaving an inch or more of ice still in many shady spots. Many limbs and trees were down and the ice was a good inch thick but the sun was warm and the skies were blue! Christian hosted 13 of us on Journey for dinner, dessert, a little dancing and a lot of laughing. Everyone had a great night. The group then separated to watch some ACC Basketball, one of the spots being the Corner Bar.

April 3-4:
There were not a lot of people at the marina that weekend but the weekend included gorgeous sunsets and good times. Chiang Mai hosted 9 people on C Dock for a spur of the moment pot luck on Saturday evening. Later in the evening an emergency situation pulled the entire marina together to work on the very scary situation, helping out in a different ways. Great group of people we have in our Marina.

Clarksville Wine Festival:
11 of us from the Marina enjoyed a gorgeous day of wine tasting from 17 local wineries. Afterwards 8 of us had dinner at the Pizza Pub and the fun continued on NautiLady after dinner.

May 3:
Renaming Ceremony for Yellow Rose
Kim and Connie Thompson really upped expectations for a Renaming Ceremony after bringing an entire cooler of beer, couple bottles of champagne, big tray of delicious deli sandwiches, and yellow sugar cookies. 20 or more people ended up coming by to help them celebrate. Great story behind the new name--you have to ask them about it when you see them! That evening a huge bonfire lit up the sky.

Memorial Day Weekend:
The summer got off to a beautiful start with perfect weather. Hearing of a big meteor shower taking place on early Saturday morning 9 of us set our alarms for 2am and met at the end of C Dock. I think each of us were surprised to see the next person, and then the next, all of us thinking we would be the only crazy ones up at 2am.
Later on Saturday morning there was a 10:30 Captains meeting before 20 Boats headed out to participate in the Memorial Day Service on hosted by Don Courtney and Paul Sullivan. Paul led us all in prayer to honor and remember all military, past and present. We were blessed to have quite a few military joining us--Kim Thompson, Mike Doane, Paul Sullivan, Christian Desgroux, Greg Campbell. Many flowers were left by the parade of boats near the very beautiful wreath Dana Courtney created. Once the parade ended 5 boats headed to Clarksville, A lof of boats skipped the trip this year due to high water but instead spent the day sailing and rafting up. We still ended up with a big crowd of 50 people gathered together for dinner at the Pizza Pub for a very nice evening. "Happy Birthday" was sung to Eddie, Laura. John K, Greg and Connie. Conrad and John B. were also celebrating bdays that weekend but did not make the trip to Clarksville. Upon returning from Clarksville there were another 50 people, complete with a sound system, lights, and dancing, celebrating all the May birthdays up at the gazebo. Quite a few returning from the Pizza Pub made their way over to join in the fun. Sunday was another gorgeous day on the water to raft up and swim. Monday turned out to be just as beautiful. Perfect weather for a long weekend, lots of fun times spent with friends. Lots of great memories already to begin Summer!
