December 18, Dinner at the Ale house: Patricia from Moon Fish organized a great evening out that I think we will be adding to our calendar for years to come! We had 26 SCYC members get together for an evening of dinner, socializing and a Chinese Gift Exchange. The photographer even made it into a few pix at this event. A perfect way to get together and celebrate the ending of a fantastic 2012 year!
December 15th sail to Clarksville for Pizza, Pool, Dancing and a whole lot of fun! Laura Twyman and Jeff Matthiae on Odyssey, and Rick Morris and Chesley Campbell on Unplugged left the marina about 10am but there was not wind for sailing so it was a motor ride. There were 11 of us who enjoyed some pizza together and then spent several hours playing ppol and dancing. Everyone talked about what a wonderful time they had and that we need to do more of these kind of outings in the future! We thank our 2013 Vice Commodore, Chesley, for this great idea
and getting us all together for it.
and getting us all together for it.
December 7-9: Incredible that the weather can be so warm the 2cnd weekend of December. Definetly wasn't much wind on Saturday but was stil an enjoyable day to be out on the water. Sunday all you needed was a long sleeve tshirt on the dock since the weather was so warm although there was some spotty rain and the lake was flat calm. The Lake level dropped another 1/2 ft from the prior weekend and was at 292.18 feet.

The weather for the 1st weekend of December was perfect. Blue skies, warm temperatures, gorgeous sunsets, beautiful sunrise, full moon reflecting on the water and great times with friends! A group of 6 went to dinner in Henderson Saturday night and the night ended with warm brownies fresh from the oven, delicious cookies, and hot apple cider on Rock Reation. Thanks to Mark we had many laughs!
The weekend of Nov 16&17 was sunny & warm. We had 6 boats participate in the fun race. Eddie on Tenacious & Crew, Laura from Parrotise, came in 1st; Ron on Honeycraft with crew, Mike from Hideway in 2cnd. And 3rd was Mark & Meryl on M&M with crew Thanos from Symphonia. Followed by Tim on Rosebud, Ted on Aquila with crew Shannon from Hideaway, and Dennis & Cee on Loblolly. The day ended with quite a group on Tenacious for a wonderful Pot Luck.
Fall Meeting November 9. We had a pretty big group of about 50 people attend the 2012 Fall Meeting. Lots of wonderful food, including pork shoulder by our favorite griller, Don Courtney, Fried chicken, pastas, biscuits, and several delicous desserts, like that fantastic homemade carrot cake by Barbara Wilcox. Steve Twyman was nominated as the 2013 Commodore and Chesley Campbell nominated as the Vice Commodore. Don Courtney was awarded the Shipmate of the year trophy. We were serenaded by Gerd Ottehenning who wrote a song about
Bluenose Race.

Happy Halloween! With Hurricane Sandy headed our way we were not sure what the weekend may bring but Friday and Saturday remained rainfree. 5 boats participated in the face race with Unplugged, with Captain Chesley, and Steve, Captain of Parrotise, working their butts off to cross the finish line first. White caps were on the lake all day with gusts of 25. We had quite a large group for the Halloween party.
Fall--October 19-21.
Tim receives his well-deserved Bluenose trophy
The Bluenose was a Canadian fishing and racing schooner from Nova Scotia built in 1921. Over 17 years of racing, no challenger could take the International Fishermans Trophy from her. She was no mere racing ship, but also a general fishing craft that was worked hard throughout her lifetime. She fished cod and other kinds of groundfish, and at least once won competitions for largest catches of the season and similar awards. Steve and Laura Twyman sponsored the Bluenose Race, a sailboat race from Hibernia to Clarksville and back. There were 10 boats which participated in the event. Rosebud, with Captain Tim Vicknair and crew came in 1st place in 10 hours & 40 minutes. Tenacious, with Captain Eddie Walter and crew came in 2cnd place in 10 hours and 26 minutes. Third place was Querida, with Captain Paul Sullivan in 15 hours and 4 minutes.
