July 20 Weekend in Review

All

Another great weekend to be out on the water with friends  and family.  This past weekend was LakeFest in Clarksville and to all of  us that went there seemed to be a lot more people and more vendors than in years past.  I hope it was a great success for the town.

Six boats made the trip up on Thursday or Friday for the  weekend.  I have always said the preparty parties are always a blast.  Thanks to DJ Mix Master Dan and Patricia for hosting the preparty party Friday night into the early hours of Saturday morning.  Lots of dancing and fun was done by all.

Thank goodness for a nice breeze most of the day on
Saturday as it was hot when in town but was really nice when we got back to the boats for lunch and swimming.  Most of the day was spent in the water relaxing and having fun.  The town also put on another good show of
fireworks this year and we were all taking about how few boats were out in the water compared to years past.

Per the talk around the dock on Sunday afternoon there
was a good sail down the lake also Saturday

Upcoming events

  • Aug 3rd = Treasure Hunt = by what I hear this will be a lot of fun
  • Aug 10th =Dog Days of Summer = more info to come
  • Aug 17th = Luau at Henderson Pt group camping = more information to come
  • Sept 21st = Bluenose Race = Start getting your crew together for this great test of sailing endurance.

Also from our friends up in Clarksville Sailing club
Steve Meadows (434-251-2304) has his Ultimate 20 for sale, if anyone in your club is looking for a true racer.  He won first place in A Class every year that he raced it in our club.  It's loaded with sails and go-fast gear, O.B.motor and trailer, all in excellent condition.

Weekend in Review

Rain, Rain, Rain Sun and more Rain

I know I am ready for some sunshine and the rain to  stop.  The lake came up at least a foot and a half over the weekend. It is above 304 as of this morning.

Friday night started off with a few of us playing a few games of cornhole before a new boat was delivered at night.  There is now another SeaRay 340 Sundancer on B dock.  We hope that they will join the club.  Thanks to Dan and Patricia for helping the new owners get the boat off the trailer and into the slip while Jeff, Laura and I helped at the dock.  It is never easy coming into a new place at night but with all the help that was given all was good.

Saturday the rain came and went most of the day.  Several boat did end up going out for the afternoon and enjoyed a day on the lake.  Several stayed at the dock and did boat maintenance and a few ladies even took control of a dinghy and created parties all over the marina.

Other news around the dock was that Rick and Jodi Morris sold Muddy Waters.  We hope they find their new boat soon and are able to be back at the lake soon.

Sunday ended up being a pretty nice day even with the
rain showers that popped up in the afternoon.

Next weekend is Lake Fest in Clarksville.  By the
talk on the dock there will be several boats heading up Friday afternoon/evening.  Below is a link to give you the schedule of events for the festival.  It has always bee a fun time in the past and we hope to see you there.

July 4th Weekend in Review

All

We hope you all had a wonderful July 4th and
weekend.

The weather for the entire weekend was awesome.
Great breeze and low temps with warmer water temps.

Thursday there were several boats that went out for a
sail while others anchored up to do some bottom cleaning.  The wind seemed to pick up as the afternoon went on and made for a great afternoon of relaxing and having fun in the water with friends.  A small raft up started and with the great breeze it seemed like no one really wanted to leave.  I know I did not want to go but had to go home to work on Friday.

Saturday was the Satterwhite fireworks celebration.  A special thanks goes to Jeff for being the anchor boat for the club raft up.  He picked a great area for the best view of the fireworks. Boats started to fill in as the afternoon went on.  We ended up with 10 boats on the raft up and at least 5 other members (that we could see) anchored close by.  The afternoon was spent in the water having a great time with all.  Thanks to Rhonda and Keir's new paddle board that was converted into  a swim up bar that was enjoyed by all and a few of us even tried it out as a paddle board.  After dinner people started to settle in to watch the fireworks.  It was a nice display and looking out over the water there were hundreds and hundreds of boat also watching.  After the fireworks the night was still young and many people moved from boat to boat to enjoy good laughs and boat drinks.

The breeze filled in all night.  The conversations started Sunday morning with coffee on the bow of the boats and talk about how wonderful the sleep was with the cool breeze all night long.  Thanks again to all to came out to enjoy the weekend with friends and family.

A few dates to remember on upcoming events.

July 20th Clarksville Lakefest
Aug 3rd Treasure Hunt Race
Aug 10th Dog days of Summer
Aug 17th Luau

Italian Potluck

7/1/2013

Hi all,

Since Steve and Laura are out enjoying the outdoor fun of higher elevations, it is up to me to do the weekend recap.

What a great weekend!   Once again, proof that you should just ignore the weather forecasts and come to the lake anyway.  The only drawback was a major
absence of wind, but that didn't stop a few die-hards from pulling out their spinnakers (and even a few without), and giving it a try anyway.

Around 12:30, several boats (M&M, Tenacious, RockReation, and Kailani) rafted up in Pirate Cove for an afternoon of floating around and relaxing in the
nice cool shade.  We all made it back in time to participate in a WONDERFUL Italian Potluck night, hosted by Rhonda and Keir.  There was a great turnout and
lots of wonderful food.   It was a nice relaxing time to spend together and everyone lingered, enjoying their conversations until Mark announced around 8:15
that M&M would be headed out into the channel for a cool-off swim at 9:00 should anyone care to join them.   The only requirement was to bring your own
lifejacket.  I can't remember who all came along, but the boat was pretty packed, and we definitely felt cooler and more comfortable upon our return.

Following the swim, several headed over to Muddy Waters for more visiting, late into wee hours of the morning.

Sunday was mostly hot and humid, with a brief rain.  The big even was watching Inconspicuous pull out for her maiden voyage.  What a beautiful boat!   Congratulations Dan and Patricia!  We are so very happy for you!

Hope everyone has a great week.   I for one am greatly looking forward to the fireworks next weekend!  One of my absolue favorite events.  If you've never
done this, the view can't be beat!
