Docktails Write up and upcoming events

Hi Everyone,

It was a quiet weekend.  I think most people were frightened away by the weather forecast.  Friday saw Cheeseburger splashed back into the water and put back in her slip.  We also got a call from Martha saying that the water is off on the docks and bathrooms.

Friday night only a few people were around.  Several of us went over to Wrenagade and had a taste of Cary’s Blue Moon.  It was a sipping drink.  One you do not hold any matches close by.  We did not have any rain on Friday nor through the night.

On Saturday, it started out cloudy.  The winds were light.  Brenda Gail and Aquila went out.  A few more boats went out later.  The sun started to poke out a bit by noon.  We stayed at dock to work on some projects.  jWe later found out that the water was back on at the dock and bathrooms.  It got cloudy and dark by late afternoon.  The thunder started to rumble.  It looked like most of the storms were missing us.  Then finally about 5 PM, we had a downpour that lasted 30 minutes and then it was gone.  No more rain.

On Sunday, it started out misting then the sun came out.  It was a beautiful day on the water.  The winds were light maybe 5-6 knots.  We sailed for a while and watched Tenacious and Wrenagade out in the distance.  We then anchored off Henderson and had lunch.  Cynosure joined us.  Katelyn tried out the water.  Mike joined her for a swim.  The water temperature is 67 degrees.  I think the rest of us need to see at least 70 before we enter.  We got back by 5:30 PM and closed up and headed home.

Next weekend are race 5 & 6 of the Spring racing series.  So far the weather is looking great.  The next club event is in 2 weeks on May 28th, Memorial day weekend.  Start marking your calendar.  This is the “Blessing of the Fleet” and sail to Clarksville. We line up just south of the entrance to the marina, we have a wreath in the water and we have all of our boats pass by and drop flower petals in/near the wreath as we pass by.  After the Blessing, we continue our sail.  Many of us will continue to sail up to Clarksville where we anchor overnight and then have dinner at the pizza pub in town.  Retuning on Sunday.  For those who just want to day sail, you can drive up to Clarksville and join us for dinner there.  Next week I will ask for a head count so that we know how many will be sailing up and how many I need to make reservations for at the Pizza Pub.  We should have a good size fleet coming to Clarksville and plenty of dinghies for transportation to shore.

Have a great week sailors.
